Silent conversation: Instagram

No I do not use Instagram. I believe people put way to much energy into the photos they post, because they want people to think everything is perfect in their life's and want to make themselves look better then everyone. I look forward to events but only because i want to be there and enjoy it, not for the photos. There is so something wrong with only going to an event to be in pictures so you can post them, that's pathetic. Also I don't have an opinion on David Coggins suggestion because it doesn't affect or bother me.

Opening Moment: Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela, anti-apartheid icon and father of modern South Africa, dies

http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/05/world/africa/nelson-mandela/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Nelson Mandela has recently passed on, I believe this is very sad because we have lost such a tremendous leader and fighter for social and civil rights. I'm glad that he has finally went to rest at the age of ninety four, but he will surely be missed.

Silent conversation: aging

I believe doctors should try and find a partial fixture for aging only if it slows down the aging process and not stops it, also I don't want them to find a cure for aging because then we couldn't financially support all the old people and they would be no help to us in the labor force. If I could choose my life span I would choose 150years, but only if my aging was slowed down so I could still be young and active for the large majority of my life, I would not like to spend 50 years sitting in a home or in a wheel chair, and yes I agree with the author because a life is full based Offk your experiences and how you live it, so of I you want to feel fulfilled before you die, then you yourself have to use your life doing the things you want.

Silent conversation: pranks and bullying

Pranks cross the line when another person feels unsafe, that's when they become bullying. The only way to know is if the person getting pranked speaks up and tells the instigator to stop because they are feeling insecure.

My friends and I pull pranks on each other and others all the time. I guess I may have done a couple that went too far, but I never felt regretful unless the person was actually felt unsafe or bullied, but other then that I didn't care, usually cause we don't prank people who can't handle it.

I don't think the NFL should have to monitor bullying in locker rooms or anything along the lines of that, locker room and team behavior is the coaching staffs job, to make sure that their team is working well together.

Silent conversation: social monitoring by schools

I firmly believe schools should not be allowed to spy and collect data on students social media, and other devices. I believe it is violation of privacy and those who breach this should be punished. Also if this happens to be legalized and spying is allowed then I don't believe school should be able to use data they collected to punish students unless they act upon the words they spew on the Internet. There is a difference between saying your going to beat the crap out of a kid, and actually following through with it. Schools need to go back to the old ways where they watch over us in school and stop the surveillance once we leave.

Silent conversation #2 - creativity In schools

I agree with Cecelia Conrad when she brings up the point that "creativity flourishes with new inventions.... but society rewards a structured and anti risk taking program.". I believe this is true because in my school, everything is very structured, except for Art in which you can choose to express yourself in different styles. Teachers usually say the try to make a class more creative but you still have to choose from options on how to do your own work, so the creativeness even becomes structured. Although Cecelia says she doesn't believe that creativity is endangered I do. By putting the youth of our earth through a structured program it could kill the creativeness and make a society where you jus keep your head down and don't take any risks.

A good interview

A good interview comes from preparation, if you have a good size of time, you want to make sure you can use it succefully, also you want to know your main questions so you can play off those I questions with follow up questions. A good interview question is what I think brings something to light, something we didn't know before, or clarifying from the source what really happened in a situation so we get the truth, that's what makes a interview interesting to watch.
The interviews I like most are ones with famous people, actors, sports stars, and music artist they let you get to know someone who you aspire to be. One of my all time favorite interviews was with Ray Lewis and in it he told his story growing up broke and poor and then getting a chance to make something of himself which he did, becoming one of the best linebackers in the nfl.

What is Journalism?

I believe journalism is the art of reporting from the source, for example the people at CBS who are live from Syria talking about first hand what is unfolding over there. Those can also be the people who do bad journalistic work, an example is biast reporting, which could possibly not give us the whole story. Good journalism is when someone gives you everything they know about the topic and let's you decide for yourself whether its good or bad. I pay attention mostly to sports journalism and some articles from over seas, for example Syria, England, and Italy and their recent struggles. In this class I want to learn how to write fluid and solid pieces. I'm interested in this class because I think it will be fun.
