SAT on the Job

— Do you think SAT scores could be a good indicator of future career success? Why or why not?
I believe so, because growing up with the people in this high school and getting to know them has shown me that there are some very intelligent hard working kids, and those kids got higher SAT scores than the rest of the students. If I was a future employer I would like to choose those kids with higher SAT scores because I would know that they are intelligent and hard working.

— Should there be an expiration date on the scores’ being considered as part of
a prospective employee’s application? If so, what should it be?
Yes, there should be an expiration date in when SAT scores are a valid indicator of a persons knowledge and work ethic. I have met some smart hardworking people and I believe that they are great at there job but if you gave them an SAT in this day and age they wouldn't remember how to do half of the questions because they have replaced that knowledge with information more prominent to there environment and work.

— What if a job applicant did not take the SAT? Do you think some employers would penalize that person? How should this situation best be handled, in your opinion?
If a job applicant didn't take the SAT then employers should see if they did AP exams or the ACT, if they didn't do either if these then a highschool and college transcript. I do believe it would hamper the applicants chance of getting the job.

  1. I think that jobs shouldn't require SAT scores because some people aren't test takers, and they could be very smart. But it's okay, you're looking great today and I hope you had an awesome time in New York. Did you see any celebrities? That would be cool! Alright, well as Joe Nixon would say, "Stay Crank!"

  2. Good job Joe, I mean Ben. I liked how you reflected on the people you see in the high school being intelligent also doing well on the SAT.

  3. Ben your comment about some of the elder folk not being able to take the test in this day in age simply because they wouldn't remember is and intelligent one and was something I didn't think about.

  4. Sat shouldn't require for job because some people just bad at testing

  5. Jobs should not require sat scores cause if someone has a bad sat score that does not mean they are a bad worker. They could be a really good hard working person

    1. But they might not have the mental dexterity for a specific job, like a computer programmer who needs to be a strong thinker and problem solver.
